old knife info?
I was shown this knife for first time by my cousin. Supposedly our Great Great Grandfather carried it during the American Civil War? I searched my books and online and couldn't find any information on the maker. Do any of y'all know anything about it... maker history, years produced? Grateful for any information.

Can we get a clear in-focus close up of the tang stamp? Not impugning your drawing but sometimes a picture helps. Levine’s Guide lists Alfred Hobson & Son c1837-1876. There’s also an H. Hobson.
Nothing in Levine or Goins for A. Holson.

Thanks for reply. unfortunately the knife has already left town with my cousin and cropping a photo is the best I could do. It's not as clear as seeing it in person or under a magnifying glass.

Pretty sure it is a B. That also would match what’s listed in Levine’s. Says it was a maker located in Sheffield.
