I don't know much about this "bill-hook"

I wonder if this was used in WWII?

Thomas Staniforth made agricultural tools so your bill hook was likely used on a farm and not a war used tool. Impressive old piece!

I only thought it might have for military use due to the 1940 stamping on it.

I like that name, or description, stamped on the blade: SEVERQUICK. That tool probably would sever things quickly. Maybe it was used for sugarcane, or just clearing brush.
