The stubby here is probably my favorite. I actually don't use it much, I have a sharp-ish edge on it so that my 6 year old can use it to help with dinner prep. My wife took to using it. It was a while before I asked her why she was using the dull toddler knife for everything
It's probably because it's awesome.
This coffin handled bread knife is also quite awesome. Another of the many nameless "made in Japan" knives that fill thrift store .75 bins. This one however has a full tang and what appears to be ebony on the cool coffin handle.
The chef's knives get rotated out. The current two are this slim Flint Vanadium and other beefy chopper. I don't know much about the Meridian brand or national silver company, but the knife is killer. Full tang and cutting edge all the way to the end of the blade.
The rest of the roster is all Flint Vanadium. A slicer, utility and grapefruit knife.
The block itself is nice. Not sure the wood type, maybe rosewood? No markings on it. Really solid. Total cost here is about $9.
Anybody else using old American and Japanese cutlery from thrift stores? While their wusthof, henckels, victorinox and hammerstahl gather dust
