Farrier's Rasp Knife

Post by Corn Creek Cutlery »

Just finished this third knife ... 7 5/8" OAL ... 3 3/4" Blade ... in Black Micarta.
Trying different things as I go, like the rounded front on the handles, and I tempered the blade for less time, resulting in a 60 file skating with a 65 scratching. Also did a three part normalizing before quenching. Pop's Knife Supply, where I got the rasp, said to heat treat like 1084 steel, which turned out pretty good. Also did three pins with tapered handles, and a lanyard. Still learning....

That's a very handsome and I would think a very useful knife.
Nice work. ::tu::

How are you going to tell your wife you need a new forge?

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!
