Got mine the other day also from our friend Tony at Corn Creek Cutlery. I agree ~Q~ it is a beautiful instrument and very well made. I now have 18 of the RoseCraft Blades and I'm trying to come up with a display for them.

RoseCraft is releasing another Nolichucky Jack this Thursday January 22nd...
The RoseCraft Blades Nolichucky Jack Vintage Jigged Bone is a standard jack pattern inspired by a very old I-X-L pattern. This one-bladed slip joint features a 3″ D2 spear point blade with heavy swedging, a half stop, and a brushed satin finish. The covers are hand-jigged Vintage Jigged Bone, with brushed steel bolsters, steel liners, nickel silver pins, and the stainless steel RoseBud shield. It’s 4″ closed, 7″ overall, and weighs just 3.3oz. Designed by Andy Armstrong.

The jigging on RoseCraft traditional slip joint knives is hand-jigged one by one by RoseCraft craftsmen. They’re not machine jigged.

A note about RoseCraft’s bone handles: Bone is a natural handle material that varies in texture, pattern, and natural coloring. Every bone handled knife will look different, because bone isn’t identical. At RoseCraft, we don’t use dye to cover up what we think is the natural beauty of the bone in the handle. We use it to accentuate that natural beauty, and this may cause lighter or darker areas where the bone is hafted into the front bolster.

The bone covers are similar to the "Dapper Jigged Bone Nolichucky", but with different jigging and color ...

Yes, they are all D2 steel. I am a Seller of RCB, but also a user of their knives. The D2 has good edge retention and is not hard to sharpen. I have no complaints with the durability of their knives. I do not abuse any knife, but use them for their intended purposes. Hope this answers your question.

I've been following the brand since shortly after they appeared on the market and have not seen a RoseCrarft slip joint that did not have D2 blades. RoseCrarft used other alloys in their now discontinued line of modern folders. I used a RoseCrarft Moose for my primary daily carry for about 6 months. In my light usage it did not dull noticeably. 1095, Case's standard stainless and USA Camillus 440A stainless blades would have occasionally needed a few strokes on my fine Arkansas stone or honing. I'd like to read a comparison between RoseCrarft or Rough Ryder Reserve D2 and U.S. SAE D2 written by some one who has used both in daily work knives.

The springs in all of my RoseCrarft slip joints are flush with the liners with the blades closed, open and at half stop. They feel smooth when I rub my finger across them. Mine all open and close with a stout click. Their designer is obsessed with long swedges that require positioning the nail nicks too close to the blade pivots, especially in clip point blades. Case slip joints tend to open easier if that matters to you. For me RoseCrarft's biggest draw back is they make only a few multi-blade models and those only have two blades.

The RoseCraft Barren Fork Jack Blue Denim Micarta is a one-bladed square-end jack pattern that features a 2.9” 14C28N classic clip point blade with a brushed satin finish, long pull, half-stop and heavy swedging. It has blue denim Micarta covers with brushed stainless steel bolsters, liners, and nickel silver pins. It carries the RoseCraft Diamond shield. This is the first offering from RoseCraft with 14C28N stainless steel. It's 3.625” closed, 6.5” overall, and weighs just 2.8oz. This pattern was inspired by a very old NON-XLL pattern by Joseph Allen & Sons of Sheffield and re-imagined by Andy Armstrong.

Why 14C28N Steel?

Our customers asked for a stainless steel, and 14C28N fit that bill perfectly. It's a stainless steel with high corrosion resistance which means you don't have to be as careful about getting it completely dry like you might with D2.

Another release of this knife is coming in February, in "Red Jigged Bone" ... I will have more than 6 of these in stock(see second pic).
