We're in the center of it here. Expecting 8" to 12" snow and below freezing temps for the next 10 days. Must be global warming in extreme.
Funny they are wanting to put in numerous data centers in Indiana, but they are already cautioning homeowners to crank down the thermostat to 65 to avoid overloading the system and power outages. If there isn't enough power in the grid to heat homes, how are we going to run data centers?

It’s 8 degrees here with a windchill factor of zero. I’m on winter lockdown for the next several days. Got groceries, whiskey, chili in the Crockpot, and I don’t have to go back to work until Wednesday. We have our name on the list for the guy that plows our driveway too. Sippin’ some whiskey now and don’t much care about the storm. Tomorrow is another story.

I am pretty much a bystander also, just at the opposite corner of the country! It's supposed to be 23° tonight, which is cold for around here. Fortunately, it's dry here and no rain in the forecast.

15° here in Southwest Ohio. I have heard the snow plow go by twice. I live in a nice mobile home community that takes care of streets in the park. I have no idea what the roads are like, and I’m not gonna find out. I have plenty of food, cigarettes, and coffee. The weather guessers are saying 10 to 15 inches by Monday noon. The weather man measured 8 inches currently, with his trusty yardstick. after it gets good daylight out, I’ll check out how much we really have at my house.

The temperature is 72° and the wind is quite gusty in my area. For you folks in the serious storm, I hope the whiskey, coffee and cigarettes hold out.

It was 15 this morning, supposed to get down to 9 tonight here in North Texas. Lots of sleet, and a little bit of snow. Keeping the heaters on in the shop so the pipes don't freeze. The ground covering is mostly sleet / ice. You don't really make footprints in it, just walk on top of it. Very slick. And, of course, my wife is keeping the varmints fed. I am sure I won't want to see my electric bill next month. Some pics from around the place today.

That is awfully beautiful, unfortunate that it's also so treacherous. Mahalo for the photos....makes me nostalgic for my skiing years although I definitely do not miss the low temps that come with it. I remember well an ice storm I was in when living in upstate NY (Rochester). Tons of large limbs and even whole trees came down blocking roads. We were without power for an entire week. Was not pleasant; wouldn't want to go through anything like that again, so I feel for any of you who are.

12° here, high today supposed to be 25°. Sun is trying to get through the clouds so the radiant sunlight should help. We’re fortunate to have not lost electricity so far, many are not so lucky. Forecast is to get above freezing tomorrow afternoon.

It’s only 11 degrees outside but these pictures were taken about 3 hours apart. I brushed the car off about an hour ago and the sun took care of the rest.

Didn't get too bad here at the homestead in Dixie. Low was 22 and a very light dusting of 'snow'.
The roads were clear and mostly dry as I drove in from work ... the only real hazard was all the d!mn sweetgum balls
the howling wind blew onto the roads
A slight warm up this week, but then the predicted high for Saturday is 27 !!

Yes, Scott IIRC, I believe you once mentioned that you'd lived in Palmyra. My family moved to Fairport in 1978 where I graduated from high school (1983). March 1991 was the massive ice storm; they called it a 100-year storm. I split the very next year, 1992, and headed for sunny CA and eventually HI. Although I mostly liked living in the Rochester area, that ice storm experience was no fun at all and I do not envy anyone who may be experiencing something like that now.. I haven't gone back there ever since.

WOW, impressive memory. I graduated in 1980 and made it to Shorts a couple of times.
