Robert Duvall, one of the greats in acting, gone at age 95. Passed at his home in Middleburg, VA.
One of my all-time favorites. I watched Open Range just last night.

Re: Robert Duvall R.I.P.
He was one of the greatest of all time IMHO. From Boo Radley (To Kill a Mockingbird) to Mac Sledge (Tender Mercies) to his iconic Gus McCrae and so many others. He could portray cowboys, lawyers, preachers, country singers, outlaw bad guys, just about any role. He was known for getting totally into the character he was playing. I read an interview with Diane Lane, who was Lorena in Lonesome Dove. After filming ended she did not see Robert Duvall again for some time. She said she saw him again at the Emmy Awards party, started talking with him and was shocked that he was so different. She asked him “What have you done with my Gus? Where is he?”
All the time while they were filming Lonesome Dove Duvall was “in character”.

I saw a clip of him within the last 12 months, looked like he did not have much time left. RIP. Very few last the decades he did in the film industry.

Lots of great movies to his credit - but the fav's that I enjoy watching over and over is Joe Kidd, The Eagle Has Landed, The Killer Elite (1975 original, of course), and Second Hand Lion. Whether he's a good bad guy, or a bad good guy, he always delivered a believeable role.

IMHO "Lonesome Dove" is the best thing I've ever seen on TV. He was such a natural in his character. So versatile. What a life and what a body of work to leave us. R.I.P. J.O'.

He always delivered a fine performance, but as a cowboy he inhabited the role God made him for.
