Re: Old knives with tipped bolsters
A few days ago, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, strangely enough, it did turn out to be a keeper. It did end up being added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is a MADE IN U.S.A., two blades, one tang stamp, 3 9/16" closed, a long main blade pull, two springs, tipped bolsters, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "MADE IN (over) U.S.A." Both scales appear to have suffered some shrinkage. But, both scales shrunk in ALMOST the exact same shape. There are NO cracks, separation, or any damage to the scales at any of the six pins. It ALMOST looks like the scales were installed that way. The main blade does have a WEAK half stop. The main blade does have an OK opening snap. The main blade does NOT have a closing snap. The secondary blade does have a CRISP half stop. The secondary blade does have a VERY GOOD opening snap. The secondary blade does have a VERY GOOD closing snap. Overall, even with the shrunken scales, this pocket knife is STILL in GOOD condition. It's NOT uncomfortable to hold. Cleaning was sorely needed. I took some pictures and here it is.

Re: Old knives with tipped bolsters
Very recently, my trip to the post office produced this pocket knife. It now becomes my most recent example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also became the most recent example to be added to my general, CAMILLUS, pocket knife accumulation. It is a CAMILLUS, three blades (one has a file), three tang stamps, 3 1/8" closed, a long main blade pull, tipped bolsters, "split spring", whittler, pattern or style of pocket knife. It also has a long, thin, rectangular shaped shield. YES, I DO KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT A TRUE SPLIT SPRING pocket knife! The main blade front tang stamp says, "CAMILLUS (over) CUTLERY CO. (over) CAMILLUS, N.Y." The secondary blade front tang stamp says, "CAMILLUS (over) CUTLERY CO. (over) CAMILLUS, N.Y." The third blade/file back tang stamp says, "CAMILLUS (over) CUTLERY CO. (over) CAMILLUS, N.Y." This pocket knife does NOT, and did NOT, have a pattern number anywhere on it. The main blade does have a SOFT half stop. The main blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The main blade does have a VERY GOOD closing snap. The secondary blade does have a SOFT half stop. The secondary blade does have an OK opening snap. The secondary blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The third blade/file does have a SOFT half stop. The third blade/file does have a GOOD opening snap. The third blade/file does have a GOOD closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. This pocket knife did NOT require any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

Re: Old knives with tipped bolsters
I have a few Case 61s. I believe FRJ (Joe) has a few also. Most 61 patterns seem to have i cuticle blade secondsries. The 6261F is the only one having a file I’ve seen. It also has a fairly rare stamp.

Dimitri, I really like that tuxedo knife!
Do you know what the Case pattern number is? Or what’s the closed length?
Here are a couple more I have, FWIW.

Ken, I don't know the pattern number I will have to find it and measure it. Hopefully you or someone can identify the pattern number for me.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2026 5:56 pm Dimitri, I really like that tuxedo knife!Do you know what the Case pattern number is? Or what’s the closed length?

Those are dandies, Joe, I am a fan of French Ivory. I have a couple of pocketeze with French Ivory scales, but I have not seen a Robeson in the pattern that you have posted. Good show

Re: Old knives with tipped bolsters
I reply like the small knives with tip bolsters. Great ones posted by Ike, Skip, Ken, Dimitri, and Joe. I am especially partial to the bone handled ones. Here are a few pearl Kenn Kutters I have pictures of.

That last one, the bone handled, sure is a beauty. Thanks for showing. How many Keen Kutters do you have in your collection? Edward C. Simmons could never have envisioned so many of his knives with a caretaker in Saskatchewan more than 100 years after manufacture.
