Red Bone Cheetah Year?
I’m guessing it’s between 1970-1972. Hard to tell if there are any more dots, but I see at least 8.

My guess, and it is just a guess, is that it is a 1972. That's assuming there are no dots hiding under the swing guard.

Just a question more than a statement ....
Didn't Case normally re-center the dots under the U.S.A. as they removed one each year ??
With one out to the left of the U then it stands to reason there's another hid under the guard ....

Re: Red Bone Cheetah Year?
In the 70's they did not recenter the dots. They removed a dot from the left end for 1971, then from the right end for 1972, then again from the left end for 1973, etc.
That said, the 6111 1/2 L was a special pattern for the tang stamp due to the folding guard, so they may have done it differently for this pattern.

The 10 Dots stag 1970 5111½ LSSP is the highly sought after one.

Re: Red Bone Cheetah Year?
I wonder if Case just knocked a dot off using a chisel at the end of each year rather than making new stamps with one less dot each year. It seems like it would be very easy (and cheap) to use that method.

I think that is what they did - like maybe a Dremel tool.
