Picked this up from a used book store. Very interesting. Mostly photographs (the author is a professional photographer) of life on a historic Texas ranch. The titular subject, Watt Matthews, was 90 years old when the book was published and had lived all but 4 years of his life (while attending Princeton University!) on the ranch. Still riding horses and working daily as foreman. (He lived to 98, his funeral was attended by over 700 people).

Thanks Floyd, I’d love to get a tour. If I read correctly, it’s a 15 mile drive from the gate to the ranch house. Historic old buildings (still in use) on the ranch dating back to 1855.

Yes Sir, 15 miles back to the old original building. The current ranch house is closer to the road. But there are several houses scattered around. And the old graveyard where old family members are all buried. Lambshead by Sallie Reynolds is a great history.
