Hi, I’m new to the forum and am hoping someone can help me find which knife might have went with this sheath. I know that it’s not possible to know the exact knife because I don’t have the serial number but I hope someone can narrow it down for me. The knife belonged to a dear friend and he lost it on a trip a few years ago. It was given to him by his dad and was first owned by his grandpa.
The sheath is about 8 & 3/8s long and is stamped with DBGM 1865840. It’s black with a puma head also stamped on it. The plaid is obviously added and not to do with identifying it.
I was thinking it could be a scout model? It seems like a smaller width blade would fit in it. I am not versed with knives and do not own a puma myself.
Thank you for any info you guys might have!

Thanks, I have visited the site and it is helpful but with the vintage models there is much to go off of.

Looks like a sheath for a "Hunters Friend".
The sheath for the "Hunters Friend" is marked DBGM 1865840. I also suspect that a previous owner spray painted the sheath black, or attempted some other type of black coating.

Wow thank you! Yes the black I couldn’t find pictures of but it looked like they did a decent job of it cause it was still good in some areas. I appreciate the help! I’m going to try and look into finding a good one online and do some more research.
