I am out other hospital as of last evening. The docs think the infection in my shoulder was just cellulitis. It is much better than it was.

Good Morning Everyone!
After seeing the lung doctor yesterday he told me that the pulmonary fibrosis has not progressed any from the last check-up and that my breathing capacity is still good given my age and condition. He is keeping me on oxygen as needed and started me on a different solution for my breathing treatments. Bible study at church tonight and my youngest son and his wife are coming over and going with us. I've bought some more knives but I have to wait on USPS to get them here and hopefully it's not by way of some place I've never heard of. Need to get back out in the garage and get to work, have a blessed day and be safe...

Glad you got some good news yesterday David. Hope the new solution they have started gives you the desired results.

Good morning. We are starting out around 50 degrees and should hit 70 this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon we got hit by a major downpour that lasted only about a half hour, and we had small rivers running around both sides of our house. Water started coming in the walk out basement door until the water piled about a half foot of sand against the door that diverted the water down the path, Rain is supposed to start again this afternoon through tomorrow, but I doubt it will be as much and as fast as yesterday's storm. I'll have some digging the sand away from the basement door but will probably wait until the rain event is over. We have some serious landscaping to do to direct water down the hill past the house. We are on a hillside of pure sand and had to deal with this when we built 50 years ago and fixed it with a ton of landscaping blocks. This morning I'm off to work on the kitchen project and have an appointment to get two new tires and front-end work on my truck while I'm in town. That will cost about what the truck is worth but still is better than truck payments. I always say that I don't fill the gas tank because it will make my truck worth stealing. It's a heavy duty rusty old work horse and I'm perfectly content with that. I gotta run. Remember to keep praying for those here at the diner that have shared prayer requests the past few days. Nothin' new here in Dixie. I reckon summer is here ... already 71 and 94% humid at 6am.
Plenty of Sol and 91 today, about the same as yesterday. More rain for the weekend through next Tuesday.

67° this morning, sun is hitting the tops of the tall trees west of the house. Another beautiful summer type day shaping up, humidity, mosquitoes and heat.
Workday today combined with birthday celebration.
Yesterday was busy, now I'm understanding why Miss Joy would get up during commercials and do 2 or 3 minutes of work in the evenings while we watched TV.
Might have time to get back on the deer proof garden fence we started a couple of months back. We can plant several different vegetables late without problems, including the Seminole pumpkins that will mature before Thanksgiving if planted around the 1st of August.

Morning folks, 73 the low, the high should top out around 90 but the humidity is ugly.
Wampus showed up at dark last evening but was a noshow Jones this morning.
They got my hearing aids working at the VA yestiddy but they ordered new ones as i was due. Also sent my glasses back to the manufacturer for a lens replacement.
I got the grass cut up yestiddy need to weedeat and put some roundup down, you take off for a few days this time off year you sure get behind

After several days of 90’s today only 60’s, what the****. And off and on showers.
Swelling in my face is mostly gone, still a bit of “chipmunk cheeks” but I won’t scare people so will be going to work today. Have had this happen several times a year since I was a teenager. Known allergies include house dust and I have plenty of that. When I was a teen, Doc kiddingly told me I was allergic to boys!
Good to hear others medical issues are improving.

Nuthin' but a trip to the bank and walmarts yesterday, then stayed under the ac .

Wife has decided we're going to Ft Walton Beach next weekend. She's off Friday for Juneteenth and figured 'why not?'

73° this morning, we got up to 93° yesterday before noon. We worked on the deer fence and just about got too hot. Had to rest a few minutes before starting to fry the venison for our birthday together. We had a pot of field peas with snaps, a pot of rice, one lady brought some fried corn bread, ended up with a store bought birthday cake and ice cream plus I made gravy for the rice when the venison was done. An enjoyable meal with friends!
I'm going to make a venison stew this morning for tonight's supper. Going to have visitors this weekend that are very special to our family and our church. Many years ago, a young couple came to the Baptist school located in the town of Graceville, FL. The then young man served as youth pastor at our church during the time he was at that school. During this time, Miss Joy was the church secretary, that allowed our families to become fast friends. Joy's hospitality had this young family at our home for Sunday dinners quite often. From here our friend moved on to get his masters degree and then on to seminary to earn his doctorate. He and his wife ended up working for the International Mission Board and serving as an "underground" missionary in some dangerous places. He went as a "roving professor" while sharing the gospel under the table, so to speak, "cloak and dagger stuff"! A full career serving the Lord and now retired for several years, he volunteered to do the eulogy at Miss Joy's funeral before the pastor's sermon. In his presentation he said something that I had not realized about my wife. He said, "Putting my feet under Miss Joy's table, eating her delicious pork roast, allowed me to preach the gospel in over 30 countries." He said it was a stepping stone in his service to the Lord. Our pastor has invited him to speak this coming Sunday.
Didn't mention we're beginning the day with an overcast sky, another rain would be welcomed.

Good morning. Phil, I enjoyed reading your post. We too have done some everyday things that we found out later had a profound effect on someone that changed their lives. They tell us years later that God used something we did that we had no idea He would use to accomplish something. The weather today looks to be about perfect (55 low to 71 high) and I'm loving it. We are off to the kitchen remodel and should be installing some cabinets after a little more wall and floor preparations. Have a great Friday._____Dave

Got some weedeating done yestiddy and a gallon of roundup sprayed, it was so hot and humid ole Homer ran out of steam and went back to the recliner and the AC pretty quick.

Good Saturday Mornin' to Y'all.
74° here at Starvation Plantation, school teacher daughter in Panama City texted at 5:30 and mentioned it was already 84° on the coast. We made it to 93 yesterday. Got the backyard mowed and then pulled up a Sweet Olive tree that we had planted too close to the Satsuma orange years ago. The internet said they are shallow rooted, 2 tugs with the tractor and it came up without messing up the sod, just a big hole. Drug it to the edge of the woods and pushed it into the bushes then scooped up a loader bucket full of dirt and filled the hole. The Centipede sod will cover the spot by the end of summer.
Our friends I mentioned yesterday got here around 5pm. Good to see them and the venison stew turned out very good. I tried to duplicate how Miss Joy made it. They have invited me for supper this afternoon at their camper set up at Falling Waters. We've been friends with them since '87. The lady mentioned during their move to Europe, one of their containers was broken into and some of her kitchen supplies had been stolen including her box of old family recipes. She said the most upsetting part was the loss of her grandmother's fruit cake recipe. She reminded me that on a trip back to the US, she discovered Miss Joy had included the recipe in a cook book that the church had published for a mission project. Good memories!
Coffee was good, need to make some breakfast and crank the zeroturn, only about 4 +/- months to mow. Maybe the price of gasoline will get back to a more reasonable price before the mowing season is over. Somehow putting fuel in the car or the truck doesn't bother me near as much as it does to pay $20 for 5 gallons of gas every 2 weeks for the lawnmower.

Good morning, 57 to start the day and it's only supposed to get into the low 60's today but still mostly sunny. That's my kind of day. Men's Bible study here at our house this morning. We might start the metal roof on our house today. The metal has been sitting in my front yard killing the grass under the two piles since last fall, so it's about time. Last night when I was putting my chickens to bed, one of them decided she was going to stay out and i decided she wasn't. She raced past me and I tried to grab her and somehow apparently tore a ligament partially lose in my shoulder. I did that once before years ago and it took 6 months to heal. An old DR. friend of mine told me that time to just let it heal and don't go get it fixed because it would heal completely on it's own. If the doctors tried to re-attach it surgically, I would get back about 80 percent. He was right last time so I'm going with that advice again. I better get moving and get breakfast ready for whoever shows up for study today. Have a great weekend._____Dave

Currently 80 degrees with a high expected around 95. There is no doubt summer is here. Cheryl is going up to the church to decorate for vacation bible school this next week. The way my health is I can't be of any help so I won't be going this year. About the only thing I can do these days for the church is all the printing and the keeping track of correspondance. Thank the Lord I can still see and type on the computer. Well what I need to do right now is get out there in the garage and get serious about getting some wood burning done. I sure am glade I had that garage finished out and an air conditioner unit installed. Have a blessed day and be safe....

Wampus was here in all his magnificent glory ate like a hog, the old rascal missed a few meals in the last few days and is trying to make up for it I reckon, I've fed him extra rations and he actually came down and ate some leftover hamburger that the boss threw out yestiddy this morning she fed him a hotdog.
I've got to get the trash loaded in the pickup truck a haul it to the satellite trash dump.
Dave sorry to hear you hurt your shoulder hope it gets better soon. If it's like mine was it will take some time.

Good morning, folks.
I wish it was under better circumstances, but I'm sick and can't lay comfortably without waking up the wife. Have a high sore throat (where you drain from your nose into your throat) and a snotty running nose with a pressure headache.
Last night, we had such heavy rains that our culverts overflowed and flooded the streets, our empty lot behind us and into my garage. I was out at one this morning (before I come down sick) pushing the water back out into our driveway to hold it at bay. Once the rains subsided, I was able to keep it level at the mouth of the garage and level without it flowing in anymore. The corners of the culverts in front of our house were rushing and bubbling. Here in Hickory County, Missouri and surrounding counties, we are WAY, WAY oversaturated! This has been just too much.
Nothing on agenda today except much rest. Pretty tired after last night and being sick.

We are supposed to get some rain this afternoon, maybe. MissouriGuerrilla, sorry you're feeling poorly. We could surely use some of your over abundant rain! Still in drought condition, not the most severe but still way behind in annual rainfall.
Church in a few hours, school teacher daughter is driving up from Panama City to hear our guest speaker today, our old friend that has preached the gospel in over 30 countries. Amazing what the Lord did with a young oil field worker! Years ago he told us he had to learn to speak properly to receive his docorate. Brother Ron then said, "I no longer go huntin', I now go hunting."
Sunday dinner is supposed to be boneless venison chops, angel hair pasta, steamed broccoli and Miss Joy's pumpkin pie that I baked last night, hope I got the pies right.
l got the yards mowed, they will be ready to mow again about the middle of the week.
Y'all have a blessed Sunday, there's always an empty seat in the church for us to sit in.

Morning folks, 70 the low supposed to top out around 80. We had a sprinkle last night, they kept the script running across the bottom of the TV about heavy rain and storms, I watch my phone radar and it was red and yeller west of us and then it started sliding south and petered out. More predicted today,we'll see.
Wampus didn't show up this morning, crazy .
Sorry to hear about your water problem and sickness MG hope you feel better soon.
Carried my trash to the dump yestiddy and the left front brake locked up, had to call my good buddy and mechanic to come get it, and carry it to the shop, I expect it will get in this ole billfold pretty deep the way things cost today, I bought it new 2009 and this is the first mechanical problem it's ever had, I had a electronic problem with the antilock brake gizmo a few years ago and had to have it rebuilt. I guess I can't really complain.

Good morning. 44 and sunny. Should hit 76 later today. That's just about perfect. Back to work but Jane keeps trying to get me to take the day off and do something fun. If there were any good antique shops left worth traveling to, that would be really tempting, but all of the day trips we used to take have pretty much dried up, so I couldn't think of anything I wanted to do, so off to work I go. The past weekend was really nice with a really good Sunday service, a great time having lunch with Jane's brother and family, and I even get a good chunk of landscaping done around our yard. Good morning! Early for me but no reason to flop around in bed any longer. Had a great weekend, enjoyed a couple local live music events. The music scene is my favorite part of summer here during lake tourist season.
Work today at the collectibles mall. Business has picked up since the location moved over the winter. Actually getting a check each month instead of just paying rent.

Good Mornin', Folks.
Starting the day with overcast skies and 75° showing on the thermometer, yesterday we saw 93 with a" feel like temperature" of 103 after church. Clouded up, had about 10 drops of rain and was still in the 80s at bed time. Had a wonderful day with our special friends, got to hear him preach again. Our dinner turned out good, even the pies were good. I think Miss Joy would have been pleased with the results.
This week's activities will be interrupted by 2 appointments, shoulder shot on Tuesday and an annual visit to the cardiologist on Friday afternoon at 4:20. Traffic for that last one should be interesting!
Coffee's good this morning as the heatpump just came on, humidity is noticeable for sure.
