Yup. Eyes first to notifications, then Unread Posts.
Going to New posts clutters up with posts that, while new, I may have already read.

That’s not a bad idea, Steve. I might have to give that a try.Steve Warden wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2026 9:52 am Yup. Eyes first to notifications, then Unread Posts.

Interesting that nobody has said specific forum (knife brand, repair, etc) as was the case 22% of the time in the poll taken in 2017

I do the usual new posts. Then I go to active topics.
That's my Etsy store where I sell old knives and sometimes handmade knife accessories to support my knife habbit. Thanks for looking my friend.

New Posts for me, then Notifications. I did start using Unread Posts recently because New Posts were down.
Hard to believe this is the first I have seen this poll.

I usually start with new posts as well. I too have thought the new post count was down lately, but I figured it was just my imagination.1967redrider wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2026 4:48 pm New Posts for me, then Notifications. I did start using Unread Posts recently because New Posts were down.

Tom, can you verify the post count now and if it has dropped from what it had been?
I see a lot of familiar faces on knife sites on facebook. I'm wondering if facebook hasn't siphoned off some of our members, or at least part of their social media time.

I don't usually go to "new posts". I just go to General first, then Knife Q&A, than to the mechanics area...not necessarily in that order

I start my day with the General Off Topic Discussion by going straight to First Cup Diner. Then I go back to the main page and noodle around. No order or specific subject.

Re: Poll: How do you normally surf AAPK?
I still start with “New Posts”. From there who knows what rathole I’ll go down. I tried “Unread Posts” for a short while until I realized I was wasting time reviewing posts I didn’t read because I wasn’t interested the first time.
I usually make a visit to several of the brand-specific forums - Case, Remington, Cattaraugus, Robeson, etc to see if I missed anything on those of particular interest to me. Every few days when I remember it I look at “Unanswered topics” just to see if anyone got accidentally ignored - especially new folks, and try to respond with something.

I check the notifications first, then usually go to General and see what's going on. After that, I wander around depending on how much time I have to browse. I like the Knife Lore section for reading/learning, but don't usually have a lot to contribute there.
