If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

I have been off the forum the past month due to the loss of my dog Zeus* in Montana in June where he disappeared. I suspected that someone had taken him after he had been running in an open field and got out of my sight. That is what it looks like happened as someone has turned him into a county shelter this week (with his collar and tags still on him). He was microchipped and had my phone number on his tag. No one ever called me about him.

I am lucky in that I have a contact there that has picked him up and is keeping him in their house until I can get to him. I am going have to rent a car to head up there, my car won't make it. Zeus was gone exactly 30 days from lost to found. I had just about given up hope.... ::undecided:: .......

My nephew lives in Rapid City and has 2 dogs. The dogs detected something under a car parked in his driveway while family members were sitting out front on the deck. Turned out to be a 4 ft rattle snake and it bit both of the dogs, one in the face near the eye. He killed the snake with a hoe, and rushed the 2 dogs to his vet where the one bitten on the face required 3 vials of antivenom and other dog 1 vial, at $ 800 per vial. Both dogs were hospitalized for a few days and the total bill came to $6000. Wow, first snake he had ever seen in the 17 years at his place.

Definitely one of the problems with having pets us humans become so attached to. I would have dropped more than 6k where we live. Would not bat an eye.
Glad they recovered

Thanks Steve ::handshake:: ... I put a $1000 reward out for his return and contacted over 17 vet offices in the county getting their email addresses explaining Zeus' story and then emailing a "BOLO/Lookout for him with pictures. I put his pictures on every lost dog website I could find up there; I think someone who knew something was afraid that the "heat" was turning up. The people that dropped him at the animal shelter were very evasive and didn't want to answer questions.

That is quite a story. I am so glad that you got him back. I would be sick and beside myself if that happened to one of mine. So happy for you.

I am glad Zeus is safe, I always look forward to seeing pictures of that ol' boy, and hope to see plenty more after the eventual homecoming for the prodigal son. 8)

GS,
I'm so happy for you! My pets are so dear to me and I might just fold up if I lost one of them. Luckily, they are all house and yard bound and have little to no chance of getting away. But I have panicked a couple of times thinking one of my little cats might've gotten out only to find her hiding in a tiny little space in the house. I celebrate your relief and joy in getting him back! ::ds:: ::woot:: ::groove:: ::tu::
