Wife's cousin.

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

I'm sorry to hear that Homer!

I pray Lord for comfort & peace for John and his family, and that You would make his transition peaceful and glorious, that Your glory may be shown in his passing and that his life it would be a very of your grace.

I ask this in the name of Jesus,
Amen

BigHomer,

Praying for comfort for you and your loved ones during this in time. May the Lord not allow long term suffering and prepare all involved for a peaceful passing.

Homer,
As I read your OP, I was moved. Obviously John knew there are things more important than living and dying.
As I watched my grandmother, my mother and then my own wife struggle for her last breath after a long battle with cancer I understood the comfort and grace in the Apostle Paul's words. I think John must have understood those words as well.

I Corinthians 15:54-57
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

bighomer, praise the Lord, that was quick. God was gracious to him, just like my bro-in-law last week.
Continued prayers for the family.
This end of life thing is happening more and more, it must go with this old age thing we are caught up in.
We had an old pastor many years ago that was full of interesting sayings, some were off the wall, some made us think and some were just amusing. But most all his sayings had a spiritual meaning or direction. One I particularly liked was, "Every tub sits on its' own bottom." One other that is more applicable to those of us that have been experiencing the passing of so many family and friends recently was that Pastor John would say "People are dying today that never died before." Makes you think about where we are in our relationship with the Master.
And a big Amen to Dale's post and applicable scriptures!
