Thanks, Steve. I think the bone and the jigging on that Schmidt & Ziegler are unique among my knifes.

I did get a Rosecraft Peanut: thanks for making me aware that they existed. I will be posting it soon, a very cool knife.

Up today is a Bulldog Peanut. This is very nice knife. There is nothing to dislike about this knife unless a person just dislikes Peanuts made in China. Walk and talk are excellent, bone is excellent, fit and finish are excellent. Blades look good but I have not used them.

Nice looking knife. I see those or similar mini trappers, or peanut trappers when I am looking at knives on line. I do not have any Roper knives yet. I have wondered if Roper is another Frost Family brand. Seems like Frost has so many brands I get confused about them.

It is a nice knife, with which I was totally satisfied with both price and quality. It is comparable in quality and price to Rough Ryder. Roper is one line of knives from ABKT (American Buffalo Knife & Tool Co. https://abkt.com/ ), which is a brand owned by Rock Ridge Outdoors. They also sell knives branded Cattleman, which is less expensive than Roper and Elite, which is more expensive than Roper. The knives are made in Yandjiang, China and have been since 1983. Everything I have said here is information I gained online, which means it may or may not be 100% correct. If you have a local Tractor Supply, you may find some Roper Knives in stock there. T

That is the way it is with most of my knife knowledge. Seems like some companies deliberately obfuscate information about the manufacturing of their knives. So certainties can be hard to come by. Thanks for the info.

Since I do not have anything by American Buffalo Knife & Tool, I will probably order one of the Ropers soon. I would have already given one a try except that they are not exactly the classic Peanut.

While playing around with some of my other minis, I came across an older peanut I had forgotten about. I believe this one to be a “Prov. Cut. Co.”

That is a cool old knife, Bill. Those old shell handled knives usually had good steel. The Daughter's gift is a tiny treasure!

In a post, now deleted, a member remarked about the number of Peanuts with old USA names that are now made in China. When I tally up the various brands like Valley forge, Miller Bros, E C Simmons, Schrade, Queen: there are a lot of them. Some folks hate seeing those old names on new knives. I am not sure how I feel about it, but I usually buy a new brand when I see it.

Here is a Queen Rawhide Series 4220. All the Rawhide Queens had wood handles. They are the only Queens I have seen that do have wood handles. Perhaps the series was not popular, there do not seem to be many of them around.

Mel, maybe you're just talking about Queen's use of wood handles on the peanut pattern which I wouldn't know about, but Queen did use wood like Curly Zebra, Cocobolo and Birds Eye Maple, just to name a few, on many other patterns.

Oh, I misunderstood the thrust of your comment. I am aware that some members do not like China knives. So I put this thread in The Chinese-made knives because I planned to post any Peanuts I owned, regardless of where they were made. (At that time most of mine were from China). Folks who browse the forum by looking at New Posts will see this thread but if they dislike the sight of a Chinese knife they will know not to look at it.

I do not recall seeing wood handles on any Queens. I will have to browse back through some of the photo threads. Thanks for the Information: now I will be paying attention and probably see numerous examples.

Okay, I just went back through the Would You Show Us Your Wood thread. There are indeed numerous examples of beautiful Queens with various varieties of wood handles. I wonder if Queen used any of those woods you name on Peanuts.

Today I am posting a Rosecraft Peanut. This little knife is a new addition to my collection, and the first Rosecraft knife I have owned. It is very well made. Fit and finish are close to perfect. It just looks nice!

When I got this knife a few weeks ago it was a real nail breaker. I had to use pliers to open it. However, after being opened and closed a few dozen times over the last month, the pull has really improved. Now it is just stiff. Harder to open than I like, but not a nail breaker. I did not expect such an improvement.

The liners are thicker than usual and appear to be integral with the bolsters.

Notice the run up, where the back of the blade and the spring meet. It is really good on this knife. Of course, pretty much everything is really good on this knife. Quibbles? I do wish they would stamp the country of origin, China, on the blade. Rosecraft marks it on the box.
