New KMFS Vantaedge Rotoclamp Constant Angle Sharpener Review.

I just the new KMFS Vantaedge dropped off at my door and I just got done testing it and sharpening a few knives and I really like it a lot and I feel it has some really good improvements over the orginal Vantaedge.

The problems with the original Vantaedge was that if the hover spring was used there wasn't enough room to use it at lower alngle such as 12 degree's on some knives,the back of the Rotoclamp has been lower to make room for the hover the spring and I could sharpen any knife at 10 degree's now.

Because the clamps were longer on the on the original Vantaedge even if you did want to sharpen at 10 degree's the stone would hit the bronze cones and even if those sat flush a shorter bolt would need to be used in some case.

The Rotoclamp version version has shorter clamps and with one knife shorter screws would need to be used for the tip end of the blade but other then that they are amssive improvement,the clamps can also be slide in and out on 2 rods that act as a crossbar which a lot of people wanted with the original Vantaedge,the clamps can be slid apart at the widest to 6 inches.

Also because the clamps aren't as long now 100% or very close to it can now be used when sharpening rather then 75% of the stones length like on the original sharpener.

The Rotoclamp flipper unit is a very simple design and it works good,you just grab the knife and flip it over like anyother flipper unit,I asked if you should pull ahead on the knife when flipping and I was told it was not needed,my concern was the parts wearing and I was told te corners can wear a bit but that doesn't matter it's the ramped area's on the big bronze ring part of the flipper that are important and if the corners where thats fine because the ramped part is behind the corners and thats what keeps the Rotoclamp aligned and from moving.

I would have to say the new KMFS Vantaedge Rotoclamp sharpener is an improvement over the original in many ways and it really does give you a 100% perfectly even bevel when your finished sharpening and just like the original it's a true joy to just have to select the angle and sharpen and it auto compensates for stone thickness and also auto compensates for any angle changes that happen when sharpening a curved blade.
