I received the Ulster Model 114S today. The S signifies "Synthetic" covers. These were produced in the 1950s. My 114 below it has a double tang stamp which wasn't uncommon. What is unusual is to find these knives in unused condition. As you probably already know, Ulster churned out millions of the generic Official Boy Scout Knives. It's very rare to find one that hasn't been beaten to death. I prefer the unofficial scout knives. I paid $20 for the 114S and $30 for the 114. Unfortunately the 114S has very little snap on the spring for the main blade and punch. But I have plenty of good user knives with solid builds.

I also picked up a pair of rare Camillus Model 98s. These were introduced in the 1950s and geared towards sportsmen with all stainless steel construction. Camillus basically slapped some red nylon scales on the MIL-K knife, attached with birdseye rivets for lateral strength. These are built like a tank. Really strong backsprings. The pin on the screwdriver cap lifter remains from the original military issue knives. This pin was used as a punch to maintain weapons in the field. I put them next to my MIL-K knife from 1996 for comparison. A friend laser printed the USMC knife on a piece of wood as part of my collection.

Believe it or not I just acquired a Camillus MIL-K that somehow made it out with a model 98 blade. Not sure if it’s factory or just well done, but considering the 98 is worth considerably more money I can’t see why someone would put that blade in a MIL-K-818.

I have a Model 99 cull/second. I pointed out the diffences above. When Camillus closed they sold huge bins of blades, marked and unmarked. During the years they were in production it wasn't uncommon to see blades with mismatched markings. Since the 98 is just a MIL-K knife with red scales, it makes perfect sense. I'd love to see it!

Here it is. Looking at the pin I am not sure it left the factory this way, but I certainly hope so. For some reason I really enjoy factory mess ups and unusual knives.

I’ve seen these with the glass cutter somewhere before, very cool. I want one with the presto-lite square wrench on it. Nice knife
