<CLOSED Johnnie Fain Book Auct-Pocket Knives Markings

Post by orvet »

Welcome to the December 7, 2009 Johnnie Fain Estate book auctions. If all goes well there will be time to get the payments made and the books shipped to you before Christmas, for those of you who would like to give one of Johnnie’s books for a Christmas gift. This will be the last of the Johnnie Fain knife auctions for 2009. I am helping Johnnie’s widow Annettee by auctioning off many knives & books from Johnnie’s collection. AAPK members have been most generous in helping Annettee by bidding liberally in these auctions. Any member of AAPK can bid on these books.

This auction is for a copy of “Pocket Knives Markings, Manufacturers And Dealers” by John E. Goins. ” © 1979.
267 pages long, and is paper bound. This is an earlier work than “Goin’s Encyclopedia To Knives & Their Markings.” This book has more tang stamps in it than the Encyclopedia does. I have this book personally and use it frequently.

This auction will end at 6 PM, Pacific Daylight Time, Sunday December 13, 2009 if there have been no bids within 2 hours of that time. If there have been bids, the auction will continue until such time as there are no bids for 2 consecutive hours.
At that time the high bidder will be declared the winner.
Payment is to be by money order. Upon receipt of payment the book will be shipped.

The payment price will be the winning bid plus $4.00 for shipping via Media Mail.
The book will be packaged to prevent damage.

Feel free to PM or email me [email protected] with any questions.

Thank you and happy bidding,
Dale

NOTE: I will combine shipping for those who win more than one item.

Don

In the bottom left corner of this book is a stamp "Crane Brand". Would you mind looking that stamp up for me and tell me what it says? That is the first reference I've seen to "Crane Brand" since I started my search a couple of years ago. I have a Crane Brand knife with the Robt. Klaas stamp but only one crane. Sure would appreciate it. Thanks. Tom

Im having a file extension problem. Here is the second page in jpg. I previewed it and it does't seem to be working. There are several more tang marks including a swastika. Send my you snail mail and I'll send you some good copies.

Thanks a lot Don, that is very nice of you. I was able to read the first page very nicely. Everything seems to have two birds. The single bird must have been a sister company or else after the divorce. PM to you.
