Post by Luckypaul777 »

Anyone have any experience with Taylor Brand knives? I like the stag on this one if it's original; ::shrug:: but not sure of overall quality of the brand :? Thanks in advance.

Paul,

I've had one or two over the years and I recall them as being decent knives, perhaps comparable in quality to some of the knives I have seen more recently made by Bear and Sons.

I wasn't aware of this myself, but over at BladeForums.com, they've been discussing James Parker in a topic thread. One of the posts stated that Taylor was one of his brands.

Phil, would this be the same Taylor as Taylor LLC. that now owns China Schrade? BTW Paul did you see the new Case Toe and silver eagle dollar offered in this months S.M.K.W. magazine?

Thanks Phil and Charlie; ::tu:: it looked better to me than some of; the Chinese imported toes. It wouldn't be a user; but should do OK in a knife roll.

Aimus, I get their magazines but haven't looked at one lately. I'll check their website; thanks for the heads-up. ::tu::

Consider the age of the knife in the auction, Taylor Cutlery is a jobber...always has been but in the 70's they were selling some good quality knives. I have a small collection of Shark that are of great quality as well as a lockback that I think well of. I would imagine this Sunfish to be of good quality.

This Taylor is from 1980 and used steel from Seki Japan and is a razor...

Ooops! My bad Paul. That is a Canoe not a Toe with the silver eagle in S.M.K.W. magazine. What can I say, I was looking at the silver eagle and didn't read the description of the knife. Just took a glance at the knife's picture. ::dang:: Sorry.

Aimus no problem, couldn't find any thing on SMKW website; I saw one on eBay with the Silver Eagle coin. I thought it was a toe also ::nod:: until I clicked on it.

Hey, there are also Taylor Eye Witness knives. An older brand made in Sheffield, England.

Taylor Eye Witness definitely predates these knives, though.
