Where to buy quality knife paks?? and knife rolls?

Hi I was wondering if anyone can point me to a source for quality made knife paks? I know that there are a lot of them on the market but would prefer to hear from people who have bought them and can vouch for the quality as I have heard that some are poorly made.

I am also interested in buying Hickory Hill or other quality knife rolls for my lower end knives.

On both of the above I would prefer to buy them new and I am interested in buying a quantity at one time.

Agreed, used them for years and never had a problem other than the cost. Rick is a great guy to deal with as well!

Those look great for what they are but I am looking for the old style knife paks that hold 12, 24 or 48 pocket knives with elastic bands and foldover flaps with a hard shell vinyl outer cover.

I've owned a ton of those of different makes and never found one that satisfied me...I wish someone would make them.

I don't know what size knives you are looking to store. I really like the ones that Red Hill Cutlery has for my smaller knives. They are almost like a vinyl suitcase when closed...I get the 42 knife ones...and I have two on back order right now. They have the smaller ones too. (The 42 ones are not listed right know but I am sure they have ordered more....at least I hope.)

I use the "Sack -ups" for my larger knives, but I think I will go to those Bills Cases next...they look great!

There used to be a guy in Lynn MA who owned a leather shop and collected knives to boot.Trying to recall his name but he made some really nice knife rolls.Met him at several shows and his favorites were Harvey MacBurnette bowies.I'll see if I can find out if he is still alive and making them.This was probably 30 years ago so he may be out of business now.

I am currently using some of the 42 packs like those. They are alright, but not made for trapper sized knives. But if you have a good mix of sizes they are fine. Forget anything larger than a trapper unless you cut out the dividing area between two to make a large slot.

Also, I use some of the 48 packs like you would really want but can't find a good source for them anymore. The new ones being distributed have a brown interior which I have become convinced causes the same issues as gassing celluloid. The old red interior models never gave a problem. But if you want some I would be glad to ship you a few....

Would you guys recommend these over the made in USA rolls from Hickory Hills?

I have a really nice one of the Case briefcase style holders (from their catalog ), but it was $80. Just thinking I could save a few bucks with something else. I've seen the red lined ones bleed on some knives before. Any thoughts?

JB, I would not say they are better or even quite as good as the Hickory Hill rolls. I like the satchels because they lend themselves well to storage in my safe and because they are considerably less expensive than the Hickory Hills rolls. The satchels are made in China and I seriously doubt the overall quality and durability will match the American made Hickory Hills.
So far, bleeding of color has not been an issue for mine.

I to have never noticed a bleeding problem with them, but it would make you wonder if you had a humidity problem I could see that.

Keep you coffee cups and beer bottles away from the knives!
