Geo. Schrade wire Knife

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Geo. Schrade wire Knife

Post by Pen & Toothpick »

Picked up one of these today and was wondering the value. I know the Case ones go for at least $ 50 depending on the stampings and condition.

Mine has a spear blade with a can opener at the tang of the blade. I have seen one also with a Hawkbill and straight filing on the wire.

It looks to be in very good condition, but there were not many pictures. I got it for $ 20 bucks with a vintage 40's folding German fork.

Thank you can't wait to get one in my hands. They are one of those obscure things of our history.

I also noticed your signiture, I read through the posts about Jonet this morning. I did not realize he passed until recently.

I image this is a very tough week for his wife, as he passed nearly a year to the day. I don't know her but will be thinking about her.
