I think its a mini copperhead but it sure doesn't look like a bone handle to me .....

A real enigma. That arched W.R. Case stamp doesn't show up in "Collecting Case Knives" and the shield doesn't look like anything I have ever seen (in my very limited experience). The handle material looks like wood to me. It's a very attractive knife and I like that the seller has left it tarnished, rusty and dirty rather than clean it up and call it "mint, like new." That's a knife I would like to own, but it has already sold and for more than I could afford anyway. I hope some of the Case experts will look at it and let us know what it is.

The handles are imitation wood celluloid. First time I have ever seen that particular type of cell. used on a Case knife. I doubt if it's a rehandle since the knife isn't cleaned to boot. Years ago I also had a Challenge knife in this exact form of the 62109 with cranberry/gold glitterstripe handles so I would think maybe the best bet might be that it is a contract knife that Case had some made by a different company and my guess at that would be Camillus because I've seen that handle material used on a variety of their knives.

Whatever the handle material is, it's doing a very good impression of black palm. I've never seen that handle material before, but black palm cut the right way is dead on that stuff. Neither here nor there, just an observation.

Hard to say without seeing down inside the knife, but "6" in the first digit of the pattern number should be bone.

In the WR era (pre-1920) 6 means bone, since jigged delrin(the other 6) wasn't used until 1967.(your right this one ain't bone). Rough black was a 6 too but it was in the tested and XX eras. Celluloid was used in this era but wasn't signified with a 6, so my point was that it deserved a closer look to see why the pattern number and handle material didn't coincide.
