case tested punch blade ???
I found a case 6318 1920/1940 with tan or rogers bone and a sprial punch blade, is this normal?
Blades are worn about 30%, paid $20, was this too much, also found a case 64047P with a sprial punch blade 1940/1964, alot of pocket ware but almost full blades, thinking of offering $30, is this fair, low, high? Thank you for all the wonderful information you supply at this site.

Re: case tested punch blade ???
Case never used a SPIRAL punch blade, but I would have to see a pic to see what exactly you refer to as a spiral punch.gary wrote:I found a case 6318 1920/1940 with tan or rogers bone and a sprial punch blade, is this normal?

You may be referring to a WRAPAROUND punch, at least that is what I call them.
If you have my book, the pics of Case punches are in the 18 pattern section.

The knife looks to be an authentic Case Tested 6318 with Rogers bone handles, but that punch is not original to the knife. Both New York Knife Co and Camillus used variations of a spiral punch blade, but that one looks like a Camillus blade to me.

THANK YOU, the blade doesn't fit right to me and the pin in the bolster doesn't look correct, just real new at this, I do enjoy your book. Great job, thanks again.

Glad that you like the book. On page 116 you will see a picture of the "wraparound" punch blade. Case also used a flat punch blade on the 18 pattern; unfortunately the publisher did not put in the detail of that one but its basically just a flat piece of metal like a regular blade only in the slim shape of a punch. The 6347's in rough black on pages 165 ans 167 lower corners of the pages have the flat punch but you can only see the front.
Both variations are correct on th3 18 pattern but Case never used a spiral punch blade.

I agree. Those "spiral" punches are definitely Camillus.
The middle Camillus stockman in each pic here has a spiral punch.
