I have to say I really like working with Ironwood, it turns out just fantastic when polished with white compound and then waxed.
Thanks for the tip on using super glue in the pin holes prior to peening.
Worked like a champ, not a single crack on any of the pins I used the super glue on.
I also used a reamer on all the holes and the slight cone shape really helps as well.
Yep, I wet sand the whole thing to 1500. It works great because the ironwood is so dense nothing gets
into the grain. I can get a "decent" mirror finish on the brass this way, then just about 10 minutes of buffing and it looks great. In this pic though I just washed them to get the dust off
wet sanding maple does not work out so good though
