Early Schrade Knife Question
I thought the extra pin looks very unussual on this knife? (The one to the left-below the shield) Can anyone explain this? (There also seems to be a strange hole, almost like it was for another pin on the back scale.)

Beats me! I dont see why anybody would put extra pins in it, and can't see the purpose of it originally being built like that either.

Re: Early Schrade Knife Question
It could be a semi-bonafide repair process for a broken backspring. They are most likely stainless steel, as marked on the blades. SS springs had a tendency to break.
If so, it was of limited effectiveness, as the blades are described as "lazy"

Thanks Charlie and Elbertson you reinforced what I was thinking, but I don't have any experience with knife repair - and it seemed mindboggling how that pin went parilously through the backspring.

Re: Early Schrade Knife Question
I suspect there is a break in the backspring between the rocker pin and that added pin.
