I was looking forward to meeting MM, you know rental cars are cheap and beat the wear and tear that you would do to your own car any how...just a thought ::shrug::

Only 3 days till the Blade Show ::ds::

So far we have 13 members on our cell phone list, with only 7 responding about the AAPK dinner. Remember everyone is welcome to attend this casual gathering (wives, children, friends etc.).

If you haven't stated your intentions for attending the dinner Saturday night, please do so here or feel free to PM me any questions you may have.

We need a count ASAP for the reservation ::nod::

Here are a few pics from the Blade Show. AAPK was well represented at this event. We had a table set up in the lobby near the ticket sales window where members passed out cards and talked to folks about AAPK.
Saturday night several of us gathered for dinner at Ted's Montana Grill in the mall across from the Cobb Galleria where the Blade Show was held.

These were the more sophisticated members of AAPK. We had wine and mixed drink cocktails, iced tea and agua.

I enjoyed the Blade Show. Hadn't been in years. Didn't buy a single knife. ::td:: ::disgust:: Took some items to sell and sold most of them. I came home with more money than I took. Found out that my collection is probably more valuable than I had thought. ::tu::

Enjoyed meeting all the guys, some spouses and offspring. Some of the AAPK members were exactly what I was expecting. Mr. Blister ( Dave) is as comical in person as he is in print. Even has the same accent. He brought AAPK/Blade Show/2010 ball caps for everyone. I wore mine all day Saturday. Got to explain the site to multiple people throughout the day.

Lenny357 (Chris) was a bit of a surprise. That Joker avatar is vastly misleading. He's clean cut, high & tight; "strack", as we used to say. Looks like a guy that could get it done as necessary.

David Clark (Nifbuf) was good company as usual. We belong to the same Knife Club. He had some beautiful Schatt & Morgan catalog reprints. I bought one of each.

Don Franklin and son Matt came all the way from California. Don is a most interesting man, and it was great to see him and Matt enjoying knives together.

Phil is as nice as anyone would expect. Nice family. Not a surprise.

Chase (Tom) has the right name. He sticks to the "chase" and apparently succeeded.

OzzieMarie is comical, too. I think he had a good time down at the far end of that loooong table.

Didn't spend much time around Jody (Jody44). He was at the other end of the table and I never saw or talked to him during the Show. He eats well. Just kidding.

Everyone had a good time. Food was good (to me anyway). Conversation was great.

Hope and pray everyone gets home safely.

Let's do it again!!

Just arrived home..........

Ken here's a pic per your request taken as Keith and I were preparing to head back to our homes this morning........ Please take note of the special AAPK at the Blade Show caps we are both sporting. They were courtesy of MrBlister who had them special made for the AAPK guys there. Thanks Mr B. ::tu::

Guys I got to tell ya this was one great weekend. I hope this AAPK get together at the Blade Show can become an annual event and that more of our members can join us next time. It's great to get to meet in person the folks you have gotten to know here on this site. I have to say I haven't spent time in better company anywhere that I can recall. :)

More pics to follow later........

Matt and I made it back to California safely. Unlike Charley I came back with less money than I went but I did get a couple of really nice knives. It was very interesting to put some real faces with those imagined over the past years. I was surprised at the general youth. Of course everyone is younger than me. BTW, Dave, Matt and I missed out on the AAPK caps. If you'll send me a couple I'll pay the postage. PO Box 6471, Santa Ana, CA 92706.

God willing and the creeks don't rise I'll see you all on line.

The Blades show was a blast!! I wasn't able to make the Saturday night dinner, but at least I was able to meet many AAPK members on Friday and part of Saturday. It was a real pleasure to get to know you guys in person. Thanks for letting this novice hang out with you experts! ::tu:: To the guys I didn't get to meet, sorry I had to head out early. Hopefully we can meet up the next time around. I'm looking forward to the next big show!!

Oh...to the member who stopped by the AAPK table and donated $20 to the club while I just happened to be sitting there, rest assured your donation made it to the proper authorities. I didn't spend it, I swear! ::paranoid::  And my apologies, but I forgot your user name. If you will PM me I'll make sure Bryan knows where the donation came from.

Here's a couple of pictures. First one is Big Don Don, and the second is JHolcolmb and Mr Blister at the AAPK table.

Here are my thoughts on this past weekend;

The Blade Show is the "Best Knife Show" I've ever attended ::nod::

It was a privilege being there and meeting fellow AAPK members ::nod::

The AAPK members that I spent time with at the show and dinner, are some of the finest people you would ever want to be associated with ::nod::

I would personally like to thank Phil (Philco) & Dave (Mr Blister) The two of you went above and beyond when it comes to representing this website and its members ::tu::

Let's defiantly do it again next year ::ds::

Hey it was nice to meet all you guys, but I never could find your table. Wally and I didn't get around much - we held court at the Canal Street table, and we had to go to the banquet Saturday night or I would have joined you all.

I also had to do a new sign on here as I couldn't remember my exact old sign on.

Hi Kerry,

Thanks for letting us know who you are. I have the donation in an envelope ready to mail out to Bryan today. Glad I now know who to tell him made the donation. I didn't get to meet you at the show, but I hope you will take the plunge and post more here on AAPK. Glad to have you be a part of this "club" and thank you for your donation.
