I'm a movie buff...I can go on and on and..... ooohhhh..I just thought of a good bowie knife film...The Long Riders.
Pitch Black and Riddick had some cool daggers.

Mitch...there sure was a lot of cut'n and stab'n going on in the series DEADWOOD.....a great series I might add!!

I always was fascinated by Zeb Macahans knife in How the West Was Won...

Not the kind of knife I feel the need to carry when hiking, but those were rough times...

Speaking of how the west was won, do you remember Centennial, the TV-series based on James A. Michener's novel?
Not a lot of focus on knives, but they are frequently shown in the beginning of the series. I remember enjoying the first episodes because of the wilderness scenes and portrayal of trapper's lives. Several knife scenes, both fighting scenes and a knife used to perform primitive surgery to remove an arrow head.

Deadwood was one of my all time favorites, but we must pay heed to the Iron Mistress. It was the 'original' Bowie knife movie as far as I know. Alan Ladd and Virginia Mayo. I'm sure about Ladd and semi-sure about Mayo.

I just watched Mad Max beyond thunderdome and there was quite a few knife scenes

Johnnie, I forgot about Predator. Many of the knives in Predator are made by Jack Crain, "Life Support" knives

including the one Billy the Indian and Arnie are carrying!

The Deadwood series came to mind right away. I loved that series and doubt anything close will be aired anytime soon.

How can we leave out James Coburn's character in The Magnificent Seven?

I've always thought it strange that he was touted as being faster at drawing that automatic knife out of his back jeans pocket, opening it and throwing it at his quick-draw pistolero opponent , inflicting an instantly fatal injury from which said opponent could not muster enough strength, breath and cerebral blood flow to get off even one gunshot, however misdirected.

And when faced with an actual quick-draw specialist that was somewhat of a threat, he cheated by slipping the knife out of his pocket and having it already opened before the command to "draw!" or whatever was issued.
Wouldn't that have made him somewhat guilty of murder?

All that aside, that is a classic movie that I would watch tonight if I found it on-air somewhere.

How about Missouri Breaks; when Jack Nicholson slits Marlon Brando's throat while he is sleeping. Another one I just watched is "The Book of Eli"; with Denzel Washington not a pocket knife; but he does some serious cutting.

That "Book of Eli" was pretty damn good.....I figured out his impairment about half way through the movie.
They was a lot of slice'n!! ....I thought Gary Oldman played a really good part.

Always enjoyed the 1992 remake, "The Last of the Mohicans" with Daniel Day Lewis Russell Means and Wes Studi. Probably watched it 10 times and still don't get tired of it.

I agree. That was an outstanding movie. I still remember one of my teachers reading the book to the class in about the 3rd or 4th grade. It scared the pee out of me back then.
