old pattern i hed in the shop is what I used for this fine fellow , I had the stag in the shop waiting on somthing special to put it on , I thought this one qualified I have it on Auction on Sharper deal auction , it is a handfull an solid as anything out there Solid 1 peace Stainless bolsters made from 416 stainless steel 1.2 a day just on them , modern 440-V stainless steel .150 thou thick almost 3/16 thick , really kool pattern all stainless fixtures with Old looking Stag on it , ring pull auto only action locks up like a gilloteene razor sharp flat ground sabre type grind , everything is stainless except the carbon steel spring for kicking out the blade fires great very solid made an Very tight , no play period , fully guarenteed against defects /description /satisfaction , Size 9 3/4 in oal 4 3/8 in blade 3/4 in thick at the thickest point ,fairly lg knife

Fantastic looking stag! but being a steel geek, your blade material choice has me tickled pink :) I haven't heard 440V used in a long while! Crucible calls it CPM-S60V now, and it's a fantastic steel!

Thanks , I got a Bar of the steel from an old friend of mine that was marked 440-v he's had it about 10 years an never used it , it was pretty rough on the outside of it though but I got thru it ok , t

HOW MANY HOURS WOULD YOU ESTIMATE THAT IT TOOK TO MAKE THAT KNIFE?

More than likely it was around 20 min , 6 of them were on the bolsters alone ,they were made from solid 3;16 stainless steel , I try to build about 5 sheath knives an at least 3 folding knives rough out for heat treating at one time then start on them one at a time when i get thru with the heatreating t
