This showed up in the mail today. The Leopard edition of the Puma Big Five Stockman Series. I've had the Cape Buffalo for several years and just missed the Rhino on eBay a few weeks ago.

I gotta tell ya, it's a mystery to me, this can opener on a knife thing. That, and other things on knives I don't want to get into.
There's been "wingnut/cutter" style can openers around a long time. If I had the whearwithal to haul in heavy cans of victuals so I wouldn't have to catch so many of those damn slimey fish, I recon I could find room to spare for a little ol' can opener in my possible box.

Do you mean like a P-38?

Just for those who may not know what I'm talking about... And for those who know what they are but have never used one, they work slicker than snot on a door knob.

I use to like to pick out all the left over P-38s from the bottom of the case of rats and gave them away to all my hunting buddies when I got home.

This came in the mail today. It's Chinese and it's junk. I don't know why I buy this crap, I'm certainly old enough to know better. I need an intervention. Someone slap me up side my brain housing group and get my mind right. What a waste of six bucks. I could have had a Subway footlong.

Yep....... Of coarse the Subway footlong (from ingestion to excretion) will probably last a little longer, especially if you load it up with all the trimmings and have a touch of constipation. Consider yourself slapped. :P

We still use one around the kitchen occasionally, when we get a can with one of those sorry rims that the regular can opener can't bite into. They really work great and stay sharp forever.

This little Keen Kutter came in the mail yesterday. It has a couple of condition issues that were not mentioned in the listing or pointed out in pictures (two pin cracks in the Delrin (?) handles and liner/bolster slightly bent out at blade pivot end, plus a tiny bit of blade wobble) and I thought about sending it back but... I don't have much money tied up in it, the blades are full and snap and I really like those little bolsters (What do they call them? Tip bolsters?) so I decided to keep it. It won't be the star of my accumulation but it's not horrible. Maybe I'll just clean it up and carry it for a while.

Edit 7/11/2010:
While taking pictures of the knifes undocumented issues I decided I don't have a knife in my accumulation that is in this poor shape and I don't want to start now. I told him I would like to return the knife and get a refund of the purchase price. I've included pictures of the defects below. I could have accepted the pin cracks but the liner seperation and bent liner/bolster were deal breakers for me.

I'm sure Dale, Muskrat Man or Elvis could fix it up good as new but I'm not willing to put that much into this knife. It's a case of diminishing returns.

Damn! Wouldn't it look sharp all fixed up with new real jigged bone handles?

Edit: 7/11/2010

Received an email back from the seller. He apologized and said he's going to refund the purchase price. He also said just keep the knife because it wasn't worth shipping back but I told him that once I got my money back the knife isn't mine anymore so I'll get it in the mail tomorrow. I also told him he should relist the knife and include the pictures (above) I sent, documenting the issues. What the hey, it's a neat little knife, someone might not care about those things. As soon as this is resolved, I'll give him positive feedback. He deserves it.

We may have rotten politicians here in Illinois but otherwise, we have some great people. (he's from E. Peoria).

Great little knife, Jerry, with all the signs of long years of service. Somebody liked that knife enough to carry and use it, and cleaned up I think it has plenty more life in it.

Edit - too bad, Jerry, I see what you mean now. And you're right, one of our knife mechanics could make a great little knife out of it. I think the seller should relist it as a "parts knife" for a couple bucks, then it would be worth putting some money into getting it right.
