I finished this guy a couple days ago and I am in the process of making a sheath now. It is a blade I purchased. This is a bolsterless design and I shaped the front of the handle to be similar to the to shallow curved cut that's in the blade. I used white spacers because the patterns in the horn will be white. This knife is designed for a medium or small hand, a little small for me. I do have another one of these blades and I will put bolsters on and inlay the handle into a couple of thick Claro Walnut Burl (California Black Walnut) scales, that way I can make the handle larger and "hide" the tang inside the walnut and have a handle that will fit my hand. I think that there is enough blade there to add a half inch here and there. I am having fun learning all these knife making skills.
BTW, shaping steer or buffalo horn will make the shop smell like burned hair, same stuff really.
I am also working on a lockback with turquoise handles, I always wanted one, don't know why. It will help me catch up on sheaths in the mean time which I find to be a lot of fun also.
