kitchen knife or what?

hello everyone. i picked this up and was wondering if it was a kitchen knife or just a fixed blade. i am leaning toward a kitchen knife. the blade is thin and it has a black stag like handles. over all length 12" . it has on it russell green river works. thanks for any info. denny

bronco2, well, I imediatly jumped into action to take pictures of my kitchen knives and suggest a reason for your knifes existance, but fell on my face. Actually, I think your knife is a kitchen knife, but now I'm confused as to it's purpose.
I thought is was part of a knife/fork set for carving, and it still could be, but my knife blades in my carving sets (2) are different in shape. More elongated and don't have that nice stylized back that yours has. I think these sets, especially the early ones, were for formal dineing. As such, there were many specialized tools at the finer kitchens disposal. Yours may have a specific use.
But you have a Russell, Green River. A fine and well made, and very desirable knife.

Well, no. I would suggest that you sharpen it and use it. That is, from what I can see, an absolutly beautiful knife.

hello, i listed this on ebay . if any one needs this. it doesnt fit in my collection. i know where there is a nice case xx kitchen knife is . i could get it if someone wants it. thanks denny
