Schrade Old Timer 150T

I just wanted to share some pics of my Old Timer 150T.
My mom bought it for my dad a gift some 25 years ago. He used it to clean deer with until he passed it on to me and Ive cleaned all my deer with it. It used to be tarnished and spotted but i cleaned it up with dremel tool turned down slow.
I'm considering having it professionally cleaned/polished and rehandled soon. (I'm retiring it from active duty)
Ive got a good friend who owns a leather shop who can make me new sheath for it too.

Yall give me some imput on how i should have it refinshed or even if i should or not.

I have alot of Schrades, but the ones that mean the most to me are the ones with stories

That 15OT has a Great History, so I wouldn't change it in anyway.

I agree with ozzie, that Schrade looks great just like it is. If it had a scratch on the handle that your Dad put on it while using it and you removed it, you took away it's history. You wouldn't be reminded of your Dad everytime you looked at new handles on it with out that scratch. I have some family handed down items and every blemish on them to someone else's eye is a memory to mine. That's just MHO though.

You know, the more i think about it the more i wanna keep it the way it is. The thing is scratched to kingdom come from me and my dad using it(and from me learning to sharpen when i was younger.) bout the only thing i want is a sharp blade like it used to be....i just cant seem to get it right!!??? I need to go get a new sharpening system.

I would like to see you keep using it; If you like, you could get a shinier one off the internet auction site to put up. Just be careful; They sell imports now and you don't want one of those. The magic tang stamp is "U.S.A."

If you want a pretty one to use or to look at, find a 15OT in reasonably good condition, (it doesn't have to be perfect), and customize it or have someone else customize it for you.
That way you have a beauty to use or admire (or both) and the one that has all the memories.

I am with the others though, leave your Dad's knife as he used it.

I put amber stag handles on a Schrade 165OT for Calvin, that turned out to be a beauty.
Maybe Calvin will post a pic or two of it. His pics are better than mine.
