G-Knives

Is anyone here familiar with a G-Knife,,,,gravity knife?, and what are your opinion on them?

Hate to leave a forumite hanging like a German Paratrooper.....oh, wait...that is the only kind of gravity knife I've seen, and it was at a Gun/Knife show.

Have you by chance got /made some? If so, let's see some pictures.

Well, There is a little story

A good friend of mine ,whom I made several knives for, asked me last year if I would have any intrest in making a gravity knife.After explaining to him I'd never seen one, he sent me ,two german paratroopers,one original,one aftermarket, a kissing crane model , and an old german custom. He said study them take them apart if need be, see if you can make me something alittle smaller than the kissing crane with a pocket clip. The paratroopers are big knives but easily taken apart to clean. The kissing crane was in excellent condition and was pinned so there was no takeapart

The old custom did'nt work good and it was pinned but I took it apart to discover the main reason for the malfunction was dirt,old oil, pocket lint etc. And I know the KCrane would end up the same way if used. So, after eight months later I finished his knife. It could however be made alittle more elaborate, Ti.,ivory,etc., but here it is;
440c,linnen micarta scales, .050"brass liners,common 2-56 phillips screws. The back is open to th blade like the front to help allow lint or whatever to escape but if need be, completely dissasembled with a small phillips screwdriver.
3" cutting edge, hollow grind
4.5" closed
9/16" thick
1.25" at it's widest, coffin handle design

that's a very nice modern version of an old design. most states ban the carry of switchblades and gravity knives but your knifes appearance would'nt give it away. normal people (like us) will not be caught is a position to be scrutinized, hopefully.
are you going to offer any for sale? i don't own a g knife and don't care for the old military or newer cheapos available today. i like the micarts scales.

Some states if You are a collector and get papers from local and state Gov. Then you can own and carry them.

If I do make another it'll be some time. I allready got too many irons in the fire now

I would like to do one with Ti. liners, damascus, filework, and maybe some mammoth ivory or MOP for scales

Some of us have had enough of the government intentionally intervening in our lives and businesses. I had the priviledge of watching the state & federal agency's recently do there best to put my company out of business and change my way of life. Only to change their plans after a scorched earth practice of "Practiced Eradication" and say afterwards that their method would not work, oops we made a mistake...

So I really don't give a damn what some statute or regualtion says these days if I want to purchase a simple knife I am going to do it..

Very nicely done. I like the wood also. Just wondering, is that some of your own pattern welded steel used for the blade? A well done knife, all around!

.050" brass liners
Afzelia burl scales
