It came in the mail today. The sliding button is a lock for the nipper/cigar cutter/caplifter blade. That blade is spring-loaded and it pops out to the point shown in the pics. To set or release the lock the very end of that blade must be fully depressed to move the lock one way or the other. I think I'll switch forums and see what BRL has to say about it. Best eight bucks I've spent in a long time.

i found a case xx 1983 new grind in mint conditon in the rare ssp style and a kutmaster 2 blade long pen style in unsharpened mint condition at a flea market.

here is my flea market finds 83 case xx new grind mint condition and my kutmaster two blade that is near mint. it is a model 6254 trapper, possibly second cut stag?

Fixed blade find at the local fleamarket. All kitchen variety.

1. KA-BAR carbon chrome 10" 960-10. $.50

2. Dexter 4898 8.5" chef's knife. Excellent condition with a nice patina. $1.00 I don't know anything about the knife but could tell it was good quality. I searched ebay history and found an identical knife in similar condition that sold for $89!

3. W.R. Case & Sons Russet Line "Wand" 10.5" very thin hollow-ground blade. The knife is nested in a wooden block which has a sharpening stone attached to the bottom. The original box is also included. The box and wood appear to have some age to them but the engraving on the blade "CASE'S Wand" almost looks like it was done with a laser. I have no idea what this knife is and cannot find anything on the net but figured anything W.R. Case should be worth the $2.00 asking price.

hey all, just picked up some knives at the local trade days. i got a remington with brown pyremite handles that is stamped r5 and merry christmas etched on the blade in mint unsharpened condition, and i got a case xx barlow stamped 0222 on the master blade and case xx on the bolster area and the case xx and the lightning ss and 8 dots on it also, on the pen blade it has 520091/2 ssp. the case is in mint never packed condition also.i will post up pics as soon as the batteries are charged up on the camera.

You guys really find some super stuff. Man, I've got to find a decent Flea Market someplace. We used to have a good one here in Boone County but they've slowly changed into a retail seconds market. At one time every booth was a picker's heaven, but no more.

Yeah murph her in Pa there is a ton of knives to be found and a lot of Flea markets to find them at. I never find kives at garge sales for some reason tho.

i love flea markets and it takes time to look and follow your gut sometimes too. i got a 82 case new grind(mint)30.00,case barlow 50.00(mint) and a r5 remington 10.00(mint). i almost got a slick bone case but he was a little high for the blade condition.

yeah you have to sift through some junk sometimes to find the gems but when you do, its awesome.

yeah i usually look through the stuff at smaller set ups and dont look much at the bigger fancier looking setups and i do love going through boxes of junk knives too i have some good finds from that. my wife hates it when i look through all the booths but she doesnt complain when i tell her what they are worth.

LAWTON CUTLERY CO. WHITTLER. LEVINE says CHICAGO 1895. Has seen alot of use but the bone is still real good, all blades have good snap and the two small blades have half stops.

hey everyone just got back from the fleamarket(goldmine) and picked up a few nice nuggets. one is a schatt and morgan 3 blade equal end opener missing the 2 smaller blades, but it has the very early stamp of gowanda new york, the handles are perfect(bone) and the main blade has excellent snap. according to the knife book i have for the knife to have the gowanda stamp it was made between 1895 and 1902(how cool is that) and i picked up a 2 dot 72 case xx model 6375 in unsharpened condition got em both cheap. ill post up some pics as soon as the camera gets charged.

correction on the year of my find it is a 2 dot 1978 case xx 6375 knife. i get more confused the older i get.lol
