Gary, the pivot is relatively simple but very strong. It's basically like the old birdseye case construction. A 5/16" diameter, .060" thick nickel washer that is center drilled and countersunk for the correct pin size, then the pivot is peened out on it and hafted down just like a bolster. Of course the washer is counter set into the handle so everything is flush and smooth when complete.
I just got this beauty today and it is in my pocket. It is way better in person than in pictures.
