Bret & I have been gathering up scissors for a while now, while out looking for knives. I thought I would post a few here. It is just interesting that some of the big knife manufacturers were in the scissor business... If you have any, feel free to post them.

Great old scissors Kathy!
Here is my fav. I use them almost every day.
They are old barber scissors but I think they are cool and they work great on paper.

Those are cool, Gino! And the tang (not sure if I should call it a tang?) stamp is just ducky!!

Yikes, here's a segment of the hobby where I thought I was alone.

I have a pair of Gold Seal scissors from S O SPLY CO of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Give me a bit to post a pic. I found some corrosion on my edges--it's been a bit.

I guess it's alright. My scissors are technically "EDCs" as well. They were sharp and shiny, but I haven't used them for a while. In truth, I think they are dressmakers' scissors, or used in the process of cutting large segments for a quilt.

I just like them because they get very sharp and have some "heft."

Give me a day to buff them. BTW, knifegirl888, do you consider yourself a wealthy woman, or did we cover that?

I like sissors too. They're a great tool and you can get some very interesting ones for cheap at flea markets.

Yup, we did cover that. I am not wealthy... but my life is rich in friends and family. Actually, I just struggled through a 4 year divorce, where I had to leave a bad situation & a house that was paid for. At times, I didn't know how I would make it, paying rent while supporting two kids & myself. While the electric never was turned off, there were many times that I stayed away from the grocery store so I wouldn't be tempted to spend money I didn't have. Bret was always there for me, but I hated to really have to rely on him. He is wonderful, but I wanted to make it on my own first. Everyone has a story though, I guess.

Your scissors are cool! Thank you for showing them. Bret actually has a pair that I will have to take a real photo off, because they will not fit on my scanner.

Yup, we did cover that...Everyone has a story though, I guess.

One of the things I have learned here is how much stuff I have squirreled away, and how disorganized I truly am. It all looks so neat on the shelves...

As for scissors, I do not think of myself as a "scissors collector." But clients give me unwanted things that really need simple repairs, and some guys leave things and then drop off the face of the earth. How I came into a really great pair of scissors is beyond me. And I'm sorry I let them succumb to new corrosion. I'm going to have to fix them this weekend.

Thanks, Joe. Everyone has to take one day at a time. I grew up very poor. While in high school, my mom left us, my dad had no job & I tried to support my dad, my disabled brother & myself on waitress tips. Our well went dry back in '87 & we had no money to drill a new one. We carried water for almost a year. We used to run out of necessities like shampoo all the time. Many times, I would wash my hair with dishwashing soap. I guess all of that, made me a little tougher and a lot stronger. My ex really thought I would come running back when money got tight here. Well, I guess he was wrong..lol

My Mom was an alcoholic. She had been in and out of hospitals and mental facilities since I was five years old. They once came and got her right before my eyes.

I was determined that her problems would not become my problems. Before the term was coined, my Dad became an enabler. He actually thought he was helping since he stated, "At least she is quiet."

I wrapped two pair of jeans into a bed-roll and showed that family the tail-light of my bike. I still am bitter to a point.

But strength is the only answer for bullies, users, and easy riders. I made my home and attitude so confrontational that it was never a haven for them. My parents actually turned on my brother--who caved.

I saw my Dad right before he died, and he and Mom still played the old games.

Your past might be tragic, but don't let it color your future.

I am happier now than I ever thought possible. I found the best man in the world who treats me with love & respect. My children love Bret also. Bret is showing my boys by example what a man should really be. There is nothing better in this world to be loved. Money isn't everything.

My ex used to put me down because of my childhood. Bret admires the person I am. In his words, "all those troubles made you the wonderful woman you are."

I am not sad by any means. I am happy!

It's nice of you to think of me, but I am really doing great. I know you have probably been joking by asking if I am a wealthy woman, but I just wanted to let you know that I am not, never have been & probably never will be.... but that isn't what makes a person rich. Friends, family & love is what makes a person's life rich. I have those things. I am lucky!

Joe, in case you haven't read this Wiss history, it is an interesting read. The Heinisch pair you have is interesting, because Wiss learned from him, and became a household name.

Here are the big ones Kathy mentioned. The smaller pair is a Heinisch, and the bigger pair I can only read "Cin. O." Both are made on Heinisch's patent, of casting the irregular shapes, along with separate blades of steel. You can see the line where the metals are different.

Bret, those are just extraordinary shears. Both of them. I have seen something like them in my travels of flea markets.
