Inventory Clean Up?

Actually S&M had been doing it for awhile early on to move left over stock,bone what have you...on the reverse side of the blades they're clearly marked Inventory Clean Up...it would have been nice to do something different "Inventory Clean Up" just doesn't have quite the appeal as "limited" what have you.....

It makes a kind of unfavorable impression even though it's a good looking limited production piece.

Unlike other knife manufactures Queen takes orders for the S&M line. They have their annual sets & the F&W series but the rest are special factory orders, even the Premier line. That is why you will see a blade etch that states 1 of 100, or how ever many were made. And also the year of manufacturing. Queen's regular working knives have no such statement. Who knows how many Canoes w/ D-2 blades and birds eye maple handles were made?
The Schatt & Morgan line is their "collector" knives. And I for 1 appreciate knowing how many of a certain knife are out there. How many Case Gunstocks were made with MOP scales? Does Case even know??
I have seen a comprehensive list of every S&M knife that Queen has made since 1991 when they re-introduced them, SFO's included.
The Inventory Clean-up knives are just a way of keeping track of what has been made. Actually the inventory clean up knives my very well become more sought after because of the low numbers produced.

I have a couple and the only place I've seen them is on a popular auction site. But someone has to be the middle man.
Queen only sells to it's retailers unless you place an order. ( Just like Charlie and the Harness jack) So contacting Queen and asking Jennie would be a good place to start. Or contacting a retailer on the Queen web site and ask them.

inventory clean-up pieces are interesting when you find them.
here's how these things usually come up:
when a company like queen makes a batch of knives, they always make extra blades.
some will be needed to replace damaged/defective blades during manufacturing, some will be used to accommodate repairs on damaged knives sent back to the company, etc.
after a while, an overabundance of blades can build up, and the inventory clean-up program is a great way to make a very limited run of knives while using blades that might normally just be discarded or take up space on a shelf.
i've seen some that are very limited indeed - 10 or less in some cases.
i tend to agree that the blade etch is tacky.
i think it would be preferable to mark them the same as an sfo, but i guess they like to differentiate them for some reason.
i'll bet many other companies do inventory clean-ups as well, but they probably just market them as limited editions.

Same here. There you go, the inventory clean up knives go for about the same price as a regular knife.

I got both of them on auction. I don't really care much for any kind of blade etches, but these were unique enough to catch my interest.
