The fella that had this listed on eBay claimed it's a Schrade. Far be it from me to argue with someone who has the knife in hand and can read the tang stamp but (you knew that was coming, didn't you) it sure looks like a Western L39 to me. Did Schrade make a sheath knife in this pattern?
This is the only picture he had posted in the auction.
Edit: Add picture of a Western L39 for comparison. Now that I compare them side by side, I see some differences on the grind and pommel.

I seem to remember seeing a Schrade with that profile but I was a kid and not as into knives then so I'm not positive.

Well, by golly, there ya go. Thanks Keith. I wish my old L39 looked that good. I'll bet the Schrade has a single tang up the middle of all that stacked leather???

I think Western was the only company to produce knives with the bifurcated tang, though they did make them for other companies.
