Schrade 8OT with a 89OT main blade?

This 8OT for sale on eBay has a Main blade stamped 89OT.
The 89OT had a Serrated Sheepfoot Blade, this one dose not.

I don't think that particular oddity will be very valuable.
But it is hard to tell. It went for more than I would have been willing to pay.
Obviously someone liked it though.

Looks like a china made Schrade with the main blade changed out with an original USA made one to make it look pre-China made.
If so, the seller just made a $40 dollar profit.

You might be correct on the blade change, but if you are the work is very nicely done.
The special way Schrades go together and also the center pin. It all looks good.

I really doubt that.
The US made knife is Swinden construction and the Chinese is not.
I am not sure on the 8OT, but I measured a 34OT (as I recall) and they were considerably different in size and the blades were narrower. I find it highly unlikely a US blade could fit in a Chinese frame. The Chinese knives sort of look like Old Timers to the average person, but if a person is well versed in USA Schrades they are quite different.

IMO, it is most likely an 89OT with an unserrated sheepfoot blade put in the inner assembly by mistake. Perhaps they ran out of serrated blades near the end of a production run and made the substitution, or it could even be an end-of-days knife.

More than likely as Dale said..."End of Day's Knife"
Schrade was putting together as many knives with the stockpile of parts they had just to sell the knives during auction. If it fit without any additional work...they put it together...was all about the money in the end.....

I am sure you guys are right as I am no means a Schrade expert.
It was just a thought to the difference in the blades.
You know eBay and all the scams out there.

Does an "End of Day's Knife" have a big collectable or monetary value being rare and somewhat of a mistake?

I did buy three China made Schrade stockman’s for whittling purposes for less than ten dollar each.
They are not that bad and are built quite well.
I have used all of them pretty ruggedly and they have held up nicely so far.
I haven’t even had to sharpen them yet.
They are a great alternative to ruining a potentially valuable knife and good users as far as I'm concerned. A lot of the knives I played with as a kid where also made in foreign places like Japan and didn't hold up half as good as these do.

Some may be worth more than others.
Shortly after the Schrade closure there were a whole bunch of 97OT master blades showing up as single blade trappers with Uncle Henry handles. IIRC those brought a few dollars, but so far I have not seen any really bring big money. Maybe in 10 or 15 more years…?

The 97OT single blades are pretty nice. I have a couple somewhere. I will have to dig them out & take some pics.

It is quite a bit different than the Buzz Saw Trapper a 97OT is supposed to be.
