Penn Cutlery Co Large Dogleg

Just picked this one up. Unusual in that it is 4" closed. You don't often see doglegs that large.

that dogleg has a very pointed cap. I guess that is a teardrop? Do you see doglegs with a teardrop very often.
Really a fine looking knife in every way.

Bernard Levine might refer to it as a "candle end dogleg". you're right not often seen with the pointed end.

Nice knife. I have several of the old Penn Cutlery's, not to be confused with the Penn Cutlery's from Tidioute in the mid 1900's. These appear to be of German hands. Penn, the name itself is of German origin.

Certainly quality piece and an awesome pattern to boot. NICE

You are the expert, but I do not think my knife is German made. At least it has none of the usual signs of German construction including the way it is marked. It appears to be US made to me.

I stand corrected. You are absolutely right, you knife is USA made. I rechecked the tang stamp. It matches those of the 30's and 40's when Vern Atkins continued producing knives from his little shop in Tidioute. They were not marked Tidioute like those that were produced during the time frame of manufacturing prior to the depression. That is a beauty for sure.

Thanks!! BTW I cleaned the tang area with metal glo and it does have the USA stamp below the arched PENN CUTLERY Co stanp.
