So many of you- all of you that have posted here- do such lovely work. Very, very nice. Welcome additions to any collection. Wish I had your levels of skill and craftsmanship.
I put together combat knives. Ugly, bloody, trench knives. My best seller is my 'Devil Dog', which is a USMC fighting utility mark 2 with D guard. I usually use Ontario blades. And usually a good repro 1917 knuckle guard, although I have a jig for bending my own plain ones. Personally, I prefer the blade up build, and anyone holding one of these instantly understands the fighting usefullness of that. But most folks want a blade down version. Sometimes I use a Swiss type 57 bayonet, for a much longer knife. The very best of stainless steel is used, it seems. Not too great a cutting edge is possible, however, as those things are bayonets, meant for stabbing. In the pics you can see dog tags; those are imprinted with the knife information, date made, my own ID.
Anyway, it keeps me off the street.

Nice I'd love one of those with the cast guard in a blade up configuration.

Nice work Phil!
I have seen some you have done on ebay.
I have several Mark 2 blades that I have been intending to finish out a couple with D-guards. I just haven’t had enough time and energy to do them yet.
