I just passed!!!........
......my first kidney stone.Had no idea that something the size of a pin head could cause so much pain,so when my wife comes back with"they decribe at as the closesed thing a man will have to childbirth"I can appreciate what she went though with my son years ago.Bad enough, while i was at the hospital several other guys I talked to had from 4-10 of these attacks. So it looks like ime cutting out the Ben&Jerrys and the whole milk.

Re: I just passed!!!........
Glad to hear everything "came out" okay.
I had a stone once...the most painful thing I ever went through. Whatever they gave me in the ER...I want more of that!
Mine was only 3mm. They called it "small", and made me catch it in a paper funnel so they could examine it. It was like heaven when it was out.
I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy.

NO FUN!!
I was looking for the flames cause I could sure smell the smoke when I was passing the one I passed many years ago.
Pissed red for three days. Doc was amazed. He said it usually took a dose of morphine to get one passed of the size mine must have been. Only thing I saw was stars. Felt like it was a cockle burr.
You have my sympathy and I'm sure you're glad it's gone.

Mmmmm. Morphine. I can see how folks can get hooked on that stuff. Greg, I feel your pain. That was your first? I hope it's your last!

I passed a few gall stones in the early 70s. The good ol' Vets Admin. Hospital cut into my guts (I've got a 9 inch scar) and got rid of them and my appendix, and some subconcious brain matter (I had to give up politics) that inadvertantly slipped down there from the use of some intoxicating substance that we were washing down with beer............but never kidney stones. Did I read earlier that it was caused by whole milk?

Greg, I feel for ya, man. I passed my only one about 20 yrs. ago, and still cringe when I think about how bad it hurt. Looked like a miniature grass burr. My ol' lady thought someone was killin' me in the bathroom. I made ALOT of noise.

I feel your pain, Greg.
Been there, done that, on two occasions in the past. Not something I would wish on anyone.

Thanks for your concern guys.I know some of you have gone through alot more with yourselves and family members, and every time you ask for a prayer for them I may not say it in the post, but I quietly say a few words.
BTW--yup,the morphine was pretty darn good.

Re: I just passed!!!........
I was doing fine reading this thread until gringo said he had to wipe coffee off his monitor.
Now I have to wipe the Mountain Dew off mine!
Two or three years ago my doc asks, how are your kidney stoned doing?
I said “What kidney stones? I don’t got no stinkin’ kidney stones.”
He laughed, “Oh, yes you do. I can see them on the x-rays, but if they aren’t bothering you, we will leave them alone.”
So, as far as I am concerned; I don’t have them.
I know I will change my mind REAL QUICK if I start to pass one.

Re: I just passed!!!........
Many years ago I had two bouts with kidney stones. My experience was the same as all of you.
As I understand it, the main thing to avoid them is good hydration. Personally I don't care to spend my days attached to a water bottle. But I make sure to take adequate fluids throughout the day. You might also wish to consider taking vitamin K2 (as M7) which directs our calcium to the bones and teeth where it mostly belongs.
Finally, a doctor recommended that if you experience acute pain from your kidney stone go into your bathroom and put down the toilet lid. Now place your posterior about 4 inches above the closed seat. Next, let your feet fly out from beneath you so you slam down on the seat. Repeat. Sometimes this jarring force will move the stone sufficiently to relieve the pain.
