2011 Camillus Yellow Jaket Series

Post by predecessor »

Thought I'd try the new Camillus Yellow Jaket Series Whittler pocket knife. What intrigued me was it's all polished AUS 8 steel construction. The yellow carbon fiber accents are kinda cool as well...

It sports an etched Clip blade, Pen blade & Coping blade. The blades come sharp, but the first disappointment was that it's not a true Whittler pattern. It's got two springs and the main blade is supported by only one spring. :x And while the snap on the smaller blades is crisp, the main blade's snap was softer than I like. Also, there were a few scratches on the knife that you don't like to see on a brand new product and a piece of the carbon fiber was chipped/cracked as well ::td::

I'm going to send it back to Camillus and see how the ACME corporation does in the customer service dept.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the included wood storage box! I didn't realize that it was included and love the concept. Wish other knife manufacturers would make or include these for their knives.

The knife retails for $34-$40 -- more than you want to pay for a Far East blade but if the snap and finish on the majority of these knives are of better quality, the polished AUS 8 steel and storage box makes this a great value.

Will let you know how Camillus handles the warranty...

It sure is a pretty knife. Really like those handles. ::tu::

I agree - the polished steel handles and carbon fiber inserts are definitely attractive.

my guess is they did nothing, most of these co that just import items usually consider it a done deal once u bought it and dont respond to phone or emails, thats another way besides cheap labor that they can sell things cheaper than us made products
