After 1946 is a safe bet JoeFRJ wrote: I was wondering if my KK hunter was made before 1946 or after.
I'm gussing after, by Schrade Walden.

Although the bone is heavily pocket worn I would say that is a N.Y. Knife Co. product.
Another clue is the grooved bolsters, not many companies grooved the bolsters on these type knives, N.Y. Knife Co. did

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
That's really nice to know, Demitri. Thank you for that information. It's a very sound knife, and also one of my favorites.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Is that the Zenith Joe? Man, that's a really nice knife. I like it a lot.
And you only paid $1 for it? So much better.

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Here are my other 2 KK's. They are both Salesman Samples. When the pearl came in the mail an AAPK member was visiting and when I opened the box that was when I found out it was a Salesman's knife!!!
Not sure if Fran remembers or will see this post because I don't see him post much anymore.
I posted these a few years ago on a different thread but since Dimitri asked for mine I thought I would post them here also.

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Wow! Those are some very fine looking Keen Kutters being shown on this thread
I've managed to come across a couple for myself over the time I've been collecting, but not quite so nice as those I've seen here. The knife in the top picture I have always refered to as a cattleman's knife. But after looking at the cattleman's shown here, I' m not sure. The handles of the knife shown in the top picture, match up with the Blade Books description of cattleman, but the blades themselves, I don't know. The second picture is a pearl handled little pen. I feel honored to own it as a Keen Kutter, but it is to small in my hand. Again , congrat's to all those who have shown what one's they own. They are fine looking knives.

If it has the spey blade and a punch blade it is really a "CATTLE MAN'S KNIFE".

Wow!!! Great knives, guys!!! I think Keen Kutter and New York Knife Co. knives have become my absolute favs over the years. I have a couple real old ones I`ll try to get photo`s of that could use a little rebuilding if I can find a couple blades that match. Keep em coming....love this thread!

Thanks Dimitri ! I like that stamp your showing. That's very cool. I picked up another KK product yesterday, a 1 1/4 inch socket chisel. Very nice condition, no chips on the edge. The handle is in great shape too, leathers still on the end.

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
O.K. you asked for it.
I showed the back of the last knife to illustrate one of KK's inked on pattern numbers. You can get the pattern numbers by referring to the jpeg filenames.

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Thanks Tom and Paul.
Tom, that $1.00 price is from someone elses Marshall. Mine was a tad more than that.
What great knives here. Really nice stuff.
That's a heck of a stamp, Dimitri. It's nice to see it.
Well, I've got these three. I may have one or two more but if I do they didn't surface in my search. Thanks.
Three distinctly different jigged covers on these.
