i found this big old knife in the rafters of a shed in jerome...town whose history includes many back stabbings an throat cuttings...

the big old knife was gory and nasty so i cleaned it...thinking it was a kitchen knife used for butchering a deer...well....
the saw teeth of this hand made blade became apparent after cleaning...made from a band saw blade, this thing has a cutting edge, and a saw back...
nasty.
normal size kitchen knife is for comparison...that is a full sized bar stool they are resting upon.

Here is an identical knife to yours in near new condition.Still has the ink stamp advertising on the blade.
Also an early bread and cake knife in the original box circa 1910.The handle is stamped,"Pure aluminum";a time when that metal was worth as much or more than gold.
Lastly a Case Tested carver. I have a bunch of early kitchen knives but for some reason don't have any pictures.I will try and rectify that tonight and post some later.

Imagination forgiven Joe! Actually I bought the knife as much for the art work as the knife itself. Being a sign painter(semi-retired) my eye is always catching neat examples of old work.

Tonight I went to look at a job doing some re-decoration on an old pot belly stove.The guy also had an old walnut shell husker that had to be nearly a hundred years old and still had a lot of the old striping and lettering on it.He wanted to re-do it and I (think) I talked him out of it.Would be a shame to destroy all that beautiful original work.I'll get some pictures of it next week when I do the stove.

Yes I do although there is no manufacturer's name on the one I have.Does the other side of your knife have slots in the rivet heads? I'll have to get a pic of mine as the pictures didn't turn out very well.

Yes, it is factory, looks like an American manufacturer.

It is called a Meat Knife, the blade for slicing through meat and the saw back for cutting through bone

I don't usually buy kitchen knives but I wasn't having a good day at the flea market so I was rummaging thru a draw at one of the tables and I found a CaseXX SS CA200-8" so I asked the guy how much he said three for a dollar so I grabed two more made in the USA when I got home I researched a the J.Russell&Co ,Green River Works cir.1833-1936 as it turned out the one I got is a 1860 vin.Pre diamond trade-mark.

I also got a American Angler Electric Fillet Knife once then I used it for fishing, and that works really awesome. I think everyone must try it!!
