Vernco Knife rehandle attempt....

Won this Vernco knife in a "lot" a little while back. My thought when I won it was to rehandle it.

Soooooo...........here's the beginning:

(Keep in mind, I have NO skills.......or tools, besides hand tools).

Looks good so far, but you have got to get you a Dremel, it makes cutting things out like this sooooo much easier.

Yeah, I know.....just knot in the budget....and keep in mind, I knever had need for a dremel until I started associating with you all.

A Dremel is a gateway tool.
You start with a Dremel then you have get a 1 X 42 belt sander then a drill press, buffer.
In no time at all you have moved up to the Hard Core Stuff: a 2 X 72" knife grinder!



Before you know what has happened you find yourself browsing flea markets, second hand stores and junk shops looking for old broken knives to repair.


Now you are a knife mechanic junkie!





Being the helpful sort of guy I am, if you box up all your old & broken knives and ship them to me I will help save you from yourself, ‘cause that what friends are for!

Scott, for me you did the impossible on that knife; you took a knife that I have always intensely disliked (mainly the design) and made a nice looking knife out of it!

Scott, when I saw the first pic I said to myself, "Why is he even gonna bother with that piece of crap!"
You've done a great job with it. It has an art deco look to it now. I love it! (Well, maybe "love" is a little strong)

BTW, what is "art deco"? My brother used that exact term to describe this knife yesterday!

art deco was a fashion and design trend in the 1930s or so, that tended toward long, lean, sleek, mordernistic designs. Do a google search for "art deco posters" and you will see planes, trains, cars, and ships that look, long, fast, and streamlined.
Art deco design affected car design, buildings, and items around the home: lighters, clocks, radios, you name it!
