You're right, cato. It's a shoe buffer. I went to work for NCR in 1966 and we had one, a bit more on the commercial grade side, back in the service department to help us stay looking good for the customers. Black side for black shoes, red side for brown and lighter color shoes. Let us know how it works out for your knives.
