Ka-bar PHD

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Ka-bar PHD

Post by atlatl55 »

I am new to Ka-bar folders so I need to ask a dumb question. Does Ka-bar make their own folders? If they do this one is as good as it gets. Fit & finish is perfect. If they are all made this well , I have found a new love.

Welcome atlatl55,
Looks that you have one of the phd 101 or 97, the knives are part of kabar's Collector Club Knives that were farmed out to QUEEN or CASE but both company's were held to strict quality control on all the club knives as kabar would limit production of quantity and heavy control on Quality. I will be starting a thread of the club knives starting from 1976-2005 in the NEW YEAR
Sorry for delay but have been away hope this helps have a safe and Happy New Year

Knife has jigged stag scales making it a PHD101 made 1987 knife is 1 of 684
