KA-BAR Folding Hunter

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Awesome.

I have been looking for one of these. Many years ago in my younger days and doing lots of hunting I bought one. However, being young and stupid I used a hammer on it like a chisel and it is now lost forever. I have seen a couple in the antique mall in Sapulpa, OK. One was 24 bucks and the other was 45 bucks. The one for 24 bucks was in a little better shape and the blades still had some snap to them on closing. Normally they will knock 10 percent off in a heartbeat but the lady said 24 bucks, then I said put it back it was kind of rough. The blades were in good shape but had that tarnished patina on them.
I don't know if I should have paid the 24 bucks and ran like hell or what.

There are a few 1184's on Ebay now but I'm afraid you won't see $25-$45. Check them out, if you haven't already. The link below is at $26 and sells tonight.

Ha. I was bidding on that one all day. Lost it. I was top bidder until the very last minute. They guy must have had his finger on the trigger. As for the internet I have searched high and low and haven't found another. For a decent 1184 I would go up to 75 bucks. Hint Hint.
Happy knife hunting.

Those are absolutely beautiful. I can't understand why Kabar got away from making such knives.

I picked these two up today for around 47 bucks. The single blade still had the box. The other one is going to be used. I had been looking at the two blade folding hunter and finally decided to snatch it up. The lockback I found at the same antique mall but hadn't seen it before.
